Progress Report

This is the Casa Loros Progress Report for June, July & August, 2006. Remember to click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos.
These photos were taken during the period of May 31 and August 29, 2006 when construction began in earnest. The biggest hold-up was the availability of electricity. I initially applied for it in May of 2005 and I was assured it would be installed within two weeks. That didn't happen. When we went down in November, I returned to the ICE (pronounced "eee say" with emphasis on the last syllable) office, and was again assured it would be installed in about two weeks. Nope! I went down again in March of 2006, went to the office and was again told about two weeks. I asked Juan Carlos, our architect, to please follow up. Again, nothing happened. Finally, Doug, our builder, took matters into his own hands and had the circuit installed. The first photo below shows the electric cable finally attached to the electric box.
Each group of photos is immediately followed by a description of each picture left to right.
1) The first photo shows the electric cable attached to the meter box.
2) The second photo shows the initial construction of the form for the footer of the bulkhead located on the lower plateau.
3) The third shows the completed form. Notice the re-bar "cages" that are inside the form. It will be filled with concrete. The bulkhead will then be built on top of the poured concrete.
4) Photo four shows that the right side of the form has been filled with concrete.
5) In photo five the workers have begun to lay concrete blocks on the previously-poured footer.
6, 7) These show the men continuing to lay blocks on the footer.
8, 9) These show the completed bulkhead from both sides. The re-bar sticking up from the wall of the bulkhead serves to reinforce it. The tall ones on the side will be cut off even with the top.
10, 11, 12) This set shows a back hoe digging the swimming pool and some of the crew finishing the lower foundation.
