Casa Loros Bed & Breakfast

Progress Report

September, 2007

This is the Casa Loros Progress Report for September, 2007.  Remember to click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos.

These photos were taken during the period of September 23 thru September 29, 2007.

Each group of photos is immediately followed by a description of each picture left to right.

1) The first photo shows the pool-side wall of the Master Bath.  The small window will let light into the shower.  The door to the right is the entry to the pool and patio area from the Master Bedroom.  The pin just to the left of the truck's left rear wheel marks the centerline of the house.  The pool will be centered on that line and entirely covered by the roof.  The roof will have approximately three courses of clear acrylic tiles on each side of the center beam to provide natural light to the area.

2) This photo is taken from what will be the dining area.  The steel and concrete structure to the left will be mostly glass with sliding doors to allow access to the pool and patio area from the Great Room.  The doorway across the room is another entrance to the Master Bedroom.  Notice the broom in the doorway.  The workmen needed a broom and did not have one on the worksite.  One of them snapped off some branches from one of the shrubs growing on the property and tied them to the end of a rake.  Rake on one end, broom on the other.

3) Photo number three shows the upper level guest suite.  This room has a jungle view to the north and to the east.

4) The fourth photo shows the view from the Master Bedroom.  We'll remove the balsa tree seen thru the left window to improve the view.  Balsa trees are extremely common in Costa Rica and there are several of them growing on the mountain.

5) Photo five views the back of the house without the truck.  This gives a good idea of the glass wall between the pool and patio area and the Great Room.  There are clear story windows on all three sides.  The large doorway on the far side of the Great Room is the main entrance to the house.  Beyond that doorway you can see the floor of the porch which will extend twenty feet out over the lower level and approximately fifty feet across the front of the structure.  You can see that the ocean can easily be seen from the pool and patio area.  What isn't clearly evident is that if you stand on the porch and look  back through the house, you can see the jungle on the mountain behind.

6) The last photo in this group was taken from the corner of what will be the kitchen and looks toward the doorway into the office.  The black plastic vessel in the foreground is actually a water tank that will be buried on the north side of the property with two additional tanks which will be used to store water prior to pumping it under pressure into the house.  The large opening on the right is the main entrance doorway.  You can see a portion of the porch floor beyond it.

 7) The first photo in this group looks toward the dining area and shows the jungle view to the north.  The window to the left provides a wonderful view of the ocean.  The kitchen will be to the right.

8) Photo number eight was taken from the roof of Kingsley's home which is located on the Costanera (Coast Highway) approximately two kilometers south of Calle Hermosa. The structure seen in the center of the photo is the house.  It will be very visible once the roof has been erected.

9) This photo shows the view from the bottom of the lower driveway.  You can see the lower level and the second level above and behind it.

10) Another view of the pool and patio area and the Master Bedroom wall.  The workmen are adjusting the alignment of the wall panels to ensure that they are square and plumb.

11) Finally, a view of the building from the lower plateau.  This photo gives you a good idea of the scope of the building that will still have a light and airy feeling once you're inside.  There are many windows, each showing a different view of the ocean and surrounding country side.
